When rain or snow is on the way, an outlook appears on the spot: a smooth graph of the next 24 hours (or 8, your choice), with a plain-language summary of when it starts and how heavy it gets, in mm for rain and cm for snow. Press and drag along the graph to read the exact time and intensity at any point. You can also switch on independent per-place rain and snow alerts that ping you about 30 minutes before it arrives, each at the threshold you choose: any, moderate or heavy. On a dry day the outlook simply stays hidden.

Open the map and you get an animated precipitation radar. In the Netherlands and the surrounding region (Belgium, Luxembourg and part of western Germany) it is a genuine two-hour rain forecast from KNMI: it shows where the rain is heading over the next two hours in five-minute steps, so you can catch a shower before it reaches you. Everywhere else it shows roughly the last two hours of observed radar from RainViewer, animating up to now, so you can read where a system has been and where it is moving. It plays on its own when precipitation is nearby and rests on a clean map when the sky is clear.
